Now for something a little more upbeat! I actually meant to post something immediately following my last update just so I didn’t end on a sad note, but time got away from me. Aside from a really rough start to our summer, we’ve really had a great time together as a family (and mommy even got some “Steph time” along the way, but that’s for another post)!

Olive is the epitome of a water baby! She loves everything and anything to do with water… from washing her hands to watering the plants to swimming. You name it, she loves it! So, after our rough June, Jas’ aunt and uncle invited us down to spend some time at their lake house on Lake Monticello to get away. It’s a beautiful little lake; very calm and quiet. It was just what we needed. We decided to go down over 4th of July weekend. We left Friday morning and planned on coming back Saturday night. We had a great time and Jason’s mom ended up coming down so late on Saturday evening for dinner that we ended up extending our stay through Sunday afternoon.

We got in on Friday evening and immediately went down to the dock to show Olive the boat and lake. Which she, of course, LOVED! We went out on her FIRST boat ride after dinner. She looked so stinking cute in her life vest! She spent a large chunk of the ride standing at the front of the boat and pointing out ducks and watching the water…

The rest of the time she spent snuggling with “uncle” Josh

and watching the motor make bubbles in the water.

Ever since then, water (to swim in and play in) has been called “bubbles”. Mostly, she gets so excited she’s actually screaming “BUBBLES! BUBBLES! BUBBLES!” She calls other water (drinking and bath) “wawa” 🙂 Smart chick!

We were surrounded by family, so mommy and daddy got some one on one time which was much appreciated! Isn’t he so handsome??

She looked just ADORABLE in her little bathing suits and floppy hat!

By the end of the weekend, she was walking around like she owned the place…. she knew the way from the house to the dock and back!

Once, papa was walking out back to do something and she saw him on the back porch. She ran over to the back door and starts yelling “Papa! BUBBLES! PAPA!” and finally I asked her what she was doing and she turned to me, quite dramatically, and said “Mommy! OUTSIDE!” It was so cute!

That is… until we went inside Monticello. Then she had a fussy moment (approximately 5 seconds long) and they showed her and I the door! haha It was fine though all in all!

She was asleep within seconds of getting back in the car. We were even able to transfer her from the car to her pack and play without her making a peep. She was OUT!

She slept for hours! Finally, we woke her up and spent some time swimming and went out on the boat one last time. She happily assumed her position at the head of the boat staring off into the water!

It truly was a wonderful trip and we’re so blessed to have family willing to extend these sort of invites to us! We can’t wait to go back 🙂
